Tammy Ryndock

Tammy Ryndock was sworn in as Undersheriff of the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office in 2022, the first woman to hold the position.

Undersheriff Ryndock is a 25-year member of law enforcement. She began her career with the Clyde Police Department after graduating from Finger Lakes Law Enforcement Academy in 1998. In 2000, she was hired as a Sheriff’s Deputy with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, serving as a Field Training Officer before her promotion to the rank of Sergeant in 2006, where her duties included Road Patrol Supervisor.

In 2015, Sergeant Ryndock was promoted to Detective Sergeant, primarily investigating welfare fraud. Soon after, she began specializing in investigating crimes against children, an immeasurable responsibility that became her passion.

While Detective Sergeant, Ryndock obtained certification as a Voice Stress Operator and continues to serve as Commander of the Hostage Negotiation Team. In 2021, she was promoted to Detective Lieutenant, supervising eight Detective Sergeants and two deputies investigating all major felony crimes.

Three years ago, she was sworn in as a Deputy United States Marshal and assigned to a regional FBI child exploitation/human trafficking task force.

As part of her commitment to the protection of children, Undersheriff Ryndock also serves as an advisory board member and multidisciplinary team member of the Wayne County Child Advocacy Center. In addition, she serves on the Advisory Board of the Survivor Advocacy Center of the Finger Lakes.

Undersheriff Ryndock is a proud member of a law enforcement family. Her mother, Sharron Purdy, is the retired Chief of Sodus Police Department and her brother, Roger LaClair, is a Detective Sergeant in the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office. Her husband, Matt Ryndock, is a retired Lieutenant of the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.

Undersheriff Ryndock is also a proud mom of two daughters: Taylor, 27, a lawyer, and Hailey, 20, a pre-med student at Penn State.

She and her husband, Matt, reside in the Town of Huron. A 1994 graduate of Newark High School and a lifelong resident of Wayne County, Undersheriff Ryndock is deeply committed to serving the community she loves.
