James Lint

James Lint is a veteran of the United States Air Force who served in Vietnam. He obtained the rank of Staff Sergeant.

A resident of North Collins, New York, Mr. Lint was an enlisted serviceman from 1972 to 1978.

Mr. Lint is a staunch advocate in his community. He is President of the North Collins Veterans Tribute, which is located along the National Veterans Highway in North Collins. The Tribute’s mission is “to have a peaceful site to recognize and honor those who served and those who continue to serve this great Nation which promotes freedom and democracy.”

The Tribute consists of a 5-point star, with each point of the star designated for each branch of the United States Armed Forces: Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and Coast Guard.

A polished granite monument in the shape of a V for victory with a pair of hands holding a bowl with an eternal flame sits in the center of the Tribute. Mr. Lint calls it a labor of love in honor of those who have given so much to our country.

Mr. Lint is an active member and former Vice President of the North Collins Senior Center and a member of the North Collins Zoning Board of Appeals. He also serves on the Schoolhouse #8 Board, which is working to restore a historic schoolhouse in North Collins. Always one to lend a helping hand, Mr. Lint also volunteers to help those from outside of his community. During the water crisis in Flint, Michigan, he answered the call for help by loading his truck with bottled water and delivering it to residents in need.

An active member of American Legion Post 1640, Mr. Lint has received numerous recognitions. In December 2020, he was honored as a Veteran of the Month by former Representative Chris Jacobs and was featured on WYRK's “Salute to Seniors,” which recognizes senior citizens who have enriched the lives of those in Western New York.

Mr. Lint's steadfast support of veterans and service to the North Collins community have earned him the admiration and respect of everyone who meets him.
