Alexander Mandara

Alexander Mandara served in the United States Navy and obtained the rank of
First Class Petty Officer, E-6.
Mr. Mandara was born on September 11, 1972, in the Bronx, New York and is
the oldest of five siblings. He attended PS8 Elementary in Yonkers until 6th grade
and PS32 for middle school.
After he graduated from Roosevelt High School at the age of 17, he decided
to serve his country by joining the Navy, following in the footsteps of his
grandfather, who served in the United States Army.
Mr. Mandara started boot camp in 1990. He then went to school to study HTA
(Hull Tech). In 1991, he began his service on the USS Enterprise in the Gulf War,
where he served his Nation for the next five years.
Continuing his service for 22 years in the Reserve, Mr. Mandara was stationed on
the USS Ogden. He traveled to many different locations, including Guam, Italy,
Spain, Hawaii, Africa, Puerto Rico, Cadiz, Kuwait, Gulf of Gibraltar, Corsica, and
France. After the September 11th attacks, he spent days on the pile until he was
called to active duty.
Mr. Mandara started working for Entergy Nuclear, where he is still employed. He
also works as an umpire for the WCBUA Section 1 High School Baseball, EBUA
Travel.
He is the Commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8328 in Yorktown,
New York. Mr. Mandara greatly values his work at the VFW, where he can
connect with other veterans and coordinate programs and services to assist
veterans and their families. A dedicated and passionate member of his Yorktown
community, he feels very fortunate to have met so many great people.
Mr. Mandara married his wife, Annamaria, on November 23, 2001, which was
one of the best decisions he ever made in his life. She has been at his side ever
since, and has helped support him through it all and carry the family. On July 23,
2008, their daughter, Gianna Maria Mandara, was born and is a beautiful blessing
to their family.
