Wendy E. Brown

Wendy E. Brown, RN, MS is a dedicated healthcare professional with over 25 years of experience, currently serving as Sullivan County’s Drug Task Force Coordinator and Deputy Commissioner of the Division of Health and Human Services.

After completing an undergraduate degree in Police Science from SUNY Farmingdale, Ms. Brown began her healthcare career as a nurse’s aide and rose through the ranks as a registered nurse in an inner-city medical center. Since receiving her professional RN degree from Beth Israel Medical Center, Ms. Brown has worked to develop her understanding of frontline emergency care.

As a respected member of the NYC 911 Receiving Hospital Committee, Ms. Brown led a major New York City Emergency Department and was later named Clinical Director for US Health Systems in New York City. While serving in these multiple roles, Ms. Brown earned her Master’s in Health Services Administration, strengthening her understanding of community healthcare and delivery systems. For more than 10 years, Ms. Brown served as Vice President of Operations
and Patient Care Services at Bayshore Community Medical Center in Holmdel, New Jersey before joining the team at Catskill Regional, and then moving to Sullivan County Public Health.

In 2021, Ms. Brown was appointed to her current post coordinating Sullivan County’s Drug Task Force, and immediately took to redesigning the agency. Working with the district attorney and law enforcement officials, she brought the Hope Not Handcuffs program to Sullivan County and has initiated the process to designate the County as a High Impact Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA). Additionally, Ms. Brown is a member of the Sullivan County Drug Court, and supports recovery and anti-recidivist activities at the county jail. Ms. Brown cares deeply for her community; she possesses a global perspective and vision for the challenges of the future, partnered with a successful history of dedication to quality and service.

Ms. Brown is a member of numerous boards and associations, including the NYS Association of Counties, Emergency Nurses Association, Horseshoe Lake Preservation Association, The Basha Kill Association, Town of Bethel Zoning Board, St. John’s Episcopal Church Vestry, The National Audubon Society and the Florida Keys Bird Sanctuary. Ms. Brown is an Angel Volunteer for Hope Not Handcuffs.
