Fraidy Nachman, Esq.

Fraidy Nachman, Esq. has dedicated herself to making a positive impact in the lives of seniors. For over 30 years practicing Elder Law at non-profit organizations, she worked to ensure quality legal representation is readily available to people who could not otherwise afford it. She provides critical legal assistance to protect their rights and helps them overcome difficulties like keeping their home, security, and dignity.

The passion with which Ms. Nachman approaches her work has deep roots. From a young age, she learned to respect elders and help her community. While attending yeshiva high school, she honed her budding advocacy and leadership skills by taking the initiative to organize weekly student visits with the residents of local nursing homes. With a steadfast commitment to the cause, she is a venerable force in her field.

Rising through the ranks at Brooklyn Legal Services, she realized her dream of opening Brooklyn’s first Elder Law Unit. After serving as Director, today Ms. Nachman works as Senior Staff Attorney representing the elderly in an array of life-changing issues, including housing, eviction prevention, trusts and estates, government benefits, and advance directives. As manager of a grant from the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany, she ensures that Holocaust survivors receive the aid they rightfully deserve and rely upon. As Supervisor of Brooklyn Law School’s Elder Law Clinic mentoring program, she shares her experience with like-minded students, inspiring them to follow this noble calling.

In her professional and volunteer roles, including Vice President and board member of the Council of Jewish Organizations of Flatbush, she is proud to devote time and talent to easing the burdens and providing for those in the greatest need. In her humble and dignified manner, she utilizes the power of the law to stand up for the vulnerable and voiceless, giving them a voice that cannot be ignored.

Ms. Nachman graduated from Beth Jacob Hebrew Teachers College, earned a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, at Hunter College, entered Brooklyn Law with a Dean’s Merit Scholarship and graduated with honors. She is very grateful for the longtime support of her husband, Mark, and is most proud of her two sons and their families.
