Danielle Ellman

Danielle Ellman is President and Chief Executive Officer of Commonpoint Queens.

Prior to her appointment, she was Executive Director of Central Queens YM & YWHA, from 2009 to 2017; during her tenure, she executed the merger of the Samuel Field YM&YWHA and the Central Queens YM&YWHA.

Ms. Ellman brings passion and dedication to advancing the agency’s mission of furthering Jewish continuity through a wide variety of educational, social, cultural, recreational and supportive services – including meaningful onsite adolescent and youth programming, adult and senior services, and services for individuals with disabilities.

With an operating budget of over $50 million and staff of more than 1,200 employees, Ms. Ellman leads and manages all aspects of the multi-sited agency that serves more than 50,000 people annually throughout the borough of Queens, including Bay Terrace, Elmhurst, Forest Hills and Little Neck. Her commitment to innovative programming has proven to be a huge asset in strengthening the services provided to the Queens Jewish and general community. This includes implementation of a workforce development initiative serving more than 5,000 youth and adults and the current new workforce structure, which places a specific emphasis on assisting individuals and families facing homelessness. The program, known as the Hub, provides job training, legal counseling, a food pantry and classes for English-language learners.

Ms. Ellman was named one of the top female professionals in Queens at the Power Women of New York Awards luncheon in October 2019, and also received the Women of Valor Award from Yeshiva Har Torah in 2012.

Ms. Ellman has long been involved in social service concerns and spent more than a decade at the Henry Street Settlement, managing and implementing programs, fundraising, grants acquisition, and budget management.

She earned a Master of Arts in Public Policy Administration and an advanced certificate in Non-Profit Management from Johns Hopkins University. In addition, she holds a Master’s in Jewish Communal Service from Baltimore Hebrew University.

Ms. Ellman was born and raised in Queens, where she resides with her husband, Alan, and their three children.
