Hal Queyor
Honoree Profile
Hal Queyor enlisted in the United States Army Reserve and achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant.
Mr. Queyor of Malone has more than 50 years of service as an Army Reservist and as a community leader.
He enlisted in the Reserve and was assigned to the 310th Field Hospital, 77th Army Command on August 4, 1968. After a stint at Brooke Medical Center at Fort Sam in Houston, Texas for advanced training in Hospital Administration, Mr.
Queyor returned to Malone and the 310th Field Hospital.
In June 1971, he was promoted to Sergeant E-5 as Non-Commissioned Officer in charge of the Registrar Division. Mr. Queyor was promoted one more time, to Staff Sergeant E-6, in 1973 and served with distinction before being honorably
discharged in August 1976.
Mr. Queyor’s commitment to our Nation and our veterans didn’t end with that discharge. In July 1978, he joined Malone Amvets Post 8 and became a strong advocate for his community’s veteran population. As a Malone Amvets member, Mr. Queyor has served as Finance Officer, Commander, and as GI Club President of the organization for many years. He was twice named Post 8 Amvet of the Year, proving himself to be a staunch advocate for his fellow veterans and a vital member of the Malone and Franklin County area.
Mr. Queyor became a statewide voice for veterans beginning in October 2014, when he was appointed to the New York State Amvets Finance Committee. Over the past decade, Mr. Queyor has committed himself fully to that position, eventually rising to the rank of Amvets Department of New York State Commander, and was elected to a three-year term last year as Treasurer of Amvets New York State Service Foundation.
The 45th Senate District is a better place because of Mr. Queyor’s service and dedication to his fellow veterans and home community. For these reasons, Senator Stec is glad to choose him as his inductee to the 2024 New York State Senate Veterans Hall of Fame.
