Leonard B. Aronica served in the United States Army and achieved the rank of Private First Class.
Affectionately known as Len to his friends and family, Mr. Aronica is a man of service and dedication. His journey began in the Army, where he served from May 17, 1954 to May 2, 1956.
His military career took him from an eight-week stationing at Fort Dix to a six-month tenure at Camp Gordon in South Carolina, where he honed his skills as a Radio and Morse Code Operator. Upon graduation, he was deployed to Stuttgart, Germany to fulfill the remainder of his service.
Post-military, Mr. Aronica embarked on a 36-year career with the United States Postal Service, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to providing for his family and serving his community.
Mr. Aronica was born and raised in East Harlem with his parents, brother, and sister. He graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School in 1949. Mr. Aronica later settled in southern Brooklyn after marrying his beloved wife, June, on August 10, 1957. Together, they raised two children, and Mr. Aronica’s current joy stems from his cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Aronica’s community involvement extends to his active membership at Il Centro, Federation of Italian American Organizations. A lifelong sports enthusiast, particularly for basketball and baseball, Mr. Aronica served as the director of the sports program at Saint Finbar Catholic Church, where he is a parish member.
His life is a testament to his dedication to service, family, and community.
