Phuong Huynh, a dedicated and accomplished Hospital Corpsman, served with honor and distinction in the United States Navy as Petty Officer Third Class for over five years.
Born in Vietnam and immigrating to the United States in January 1985, Ms. Huynh demonstrated early on a commitment to service and excellence. Graduating from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1994, she promptly responded to the call of duty,
enlisting in the United States Navy as a Hospital Corpsman.
Ms. Huynh began her basic training in Chicago, Illinois on August 1, 1994, quickly proving herself a capable and driven sailor. Following boot camp, she underwent further training at Naval Hospital Corps School for four months, honing her skills in patient care while preparing for a greater role as part of the fleet.
From 1995 to 1997, she served at the Naval Hospital in Groton, Connecticut, where she played a vital role in the military medicine clinic. Working under the guidance of numerous esteemed chiefs and master chiefs, she expertly provided essential care to active-duty patients, showcasing her proficiency and dedication to her craft.
In 1997, Ms. Huynh transferred to the Naval Hospital Roosevelt Field in Puerto Rico, where she demonstrated her versatility and adaptability while serving in various departments within the hospital. From her posts at the front desk, ICU, and laboratory, she continued to exhibit her tireless commitment in ensuring the highest standard of care for all patients.
Returning in 1999 to the Naval Hospital in Groton, Connecticut, Ms. Huynh’s drive remained apparent as she served in the military record department as well as the OBGYN department. Her contributions were instrumental in maintaining the efficient execution of critical administrative functions and providing essential support to expectant mothers and their families.
Throughout her career, Ms. Huynh has upheld the highest traditions of the United States Navy, and embodies the core values of honor, courage, and commitment. She has been the recipient of numerous medals and ribbons, including the Navy
Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, two Navy Overseas Service Ribbons, and the Navy Good Conduct Medal. These accolades stand as a testament to Ms. Huynh's unwavering dedication, professionalism, and commitment to the Nation she proudly served.
