- Black History Month
- Black History

Join my office and Fifth Avenue Committee next week for a screening of “Out of the Shadows,” the first part of Dr. Henry Louis Gates’ documentary series, “Black America Since MLK: And Still I Rise."
“Out of the Shadows” provides a panoramic view of the Black Power movement and explains how it emerged, grew and changed over time.
The screening, in honor of Black History Month, will be accompanied by remarks from Lanessa Owens-Chaplin, Director of the Racial Justice Center at the New York Civil Liberties Union.
