Dental Care Awareness for Seniors

Lawrence Pizzitola, DDS, and Daniela Taranto, Registered Dental Hygienist from the Department of Dental Hygiene at Farmingdale State College, will discuss the oral effects of medications common to seniors and how these medications can affect treatment.

They will also discuss what kinds of changes occur in the mouth with aging, as well as how existing dental work can degrade over time and why it may be in need of repair.  After the presentation, there will be a demonstration of proper oral hygiene, which will include models and suggestions for some commercial products that can help to maintain oral health.
