Dyngus Day Buffalo - Pussy Willow Prince Announcement

Members of Dyngus Day Buffalo will share information about the 2013 Dyngus Day Buffalo Festival, the annual Dyngus Day Buffalo Parade in the Historic Polonia District and the inaugural crowning of the “Pussy Willow Prince” on Thursday, February 7 at 1pm at Buffalo City Hall.

Capitalizing on the unprecedented national and international television coverage Dyngus Day received following last year’s Dyngus Day, organizers are busy preparing for what is expected to be the largest year in the festival’s history.

A Polish-American tradition, Dyngus Day celebrates the end of the restrictive observance of Lent and the joy of Easter. Over the decades, Buffalo, New York has become the Dyngus Day Capital of the World attracting thousands of people from across the northeast United States.

Although celebrated in Buffalo’s Polonia neighborhood since the arrival of the first Poles in the 1870s, the city’s first modern Dyngus Day celebration was held 52 years ago by the Chopin’s Singing Society. Dyngus Day Buffalo, the provider of marketing and organizational support to area celebrations was founded in 2005. Dyngus Day 2013 will take place on Monday, April 1st .

The official website of the Dyngus Day Buffalo festival is www.DyngusDayBuffalo.com.
