COALITION ENCOURAGES GOVERNOR TO FUND
FARM TO FOOD BANK BILL IN FINAL BUDGET
State lawmakers have an opportunity to increase the amount of local, fresh food being distributed to people in need. A diverse coalition of lawmakers, farmers, anti-hunger and environmental advocates is coming together on Wednesday, March 22 at 10 a.m. to ask Governor Cuomo to fund the “Farm to Food Bank” bill in the final state budget plan. The tax credit to offset a portion of the costs of farmer food donations would increase giving to regional food banks and pantries and make healthy food more accessible to low income New Yorkers. It will also decrease the environmental impact of food waste.
