Senate Finance Committee Chair Catharine M. Young and Assembly Ways and Means Committee Chair Helene E. Weinstein will hold the 12th hearing, in a series of 13 hearings, on the 2018-2019 Executive Budget on Tuesday, February 13th, at 9:30 a.m. in Hearing Room B of the Legislative Office Building, Albany.

During the Mental Hygiene Hearing, government officials and representatives of advocacy groups for individuals with mental health disabilities will provide testimony to the Senate and Assembly fiscal committees.

These joint hearings will be available for viewing on the Senate and Assembly websites. The Legislative Channel (on cable systems throughout the state) also will carry the proceedings, which will be preempted when the houses are in session. At the conclusion of the legislative deliberations, the channel will resume televised coverage of the hearings.

Scheduled to provide testimony are New York State Office of Mental Health Commissioner Dr. Ann Marie T. Sullivan, M.D.; New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities Acting Commissioner Kerry Delaney; New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services Commissioner Arlene González-Sánchez; and New York State Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs Executive Director Denise Miranda.

Testimony is also expected from Mark van Voorst, Executive Director, The Arc New York; Wendy Burch, Executive Director, National Alliance on Mental Illness New York State; and Harvey Rosenthal, Executive Director, and Elena Kravitz, Director for Policy and Public Engagement, New York State Association of Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services, Inc.

Others testifying include Kelly Hansen, Executive Director, New York State Conference of Local Mental Hygiene Directors; and representatives of the New York State Public Employees Federation: Darlene Williams, Occupational Therapist at Office of Mental Health; Gregory Amorosi, Legislative Director; and Randi DiAntonio, Licensed Master Social Worker.
