Regina Gallagher Marengo

Regina Gallagher Marengo retired with the rank of Captain from the United States Navy Civil Engineer Corps after serving 25 years with the Construction Force.

In an 18-month mobilization and deployment to Iraq, Ms. Marengo was the Plans Engineer for both 1 and 2 Marine Expeditionary Forces, working the logistics and construction coordination for Marine combat operations throughout the Al
Anbar Province in Iraq.

Henry Ross

Henry Ross served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II as a Tech Sergeant.

Referred to as “Uncle Hank,” he served from 1943 to 1945 as a Radio Operator and a Side Waist Gunner on board a B-24 Liberator. Following six months of boot camp and basic training, he was assigned to the 450th Bombardment Group H of
the 721st Squadron based in Manduria, Italy.

Robert L. Fish

Robert L. Fish has spent his entire adult life in uniform, serving with the United States Marine Corps, New York Army National Guard, and New York Air National Guard. He achieved the rank of Sergeant E-5. 

His devotion and dedication to the welfare and security of others has also included a career in law enforcement and time with multiple volunteer fire rescue squads. 

Merle John Tobias

Merle John Tobias first served in the New York Army National Guard in Hornell before being transferred to active duty in the United States Army. He served during and after the fall of the Berlin Wall in Germany in November 1989, and achieved the rank of Sergeant.

While serving in Germany, Mr. Tobias held many duties, including his role as a representative of the Army, where he met with local school students to describe his military experience and his high school activities growing up in the United States.

Phuong Huynh

Phuong Huynh, a dedicated and accomplished Hospital Corpsman, served with honor and distinction in the United States Navy as Petty Officer Third Class for over five years.

Born in Vietnam and immigrating to the United States in January 1985, Ms. Huynh demonstrated early on a commitment to service and excellence. Graduating from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1994, she promptly responded to the call of duty,
enlisting in the United States Navy as a Hospital Corpsman.

Walter Maresco

Walter Maresco served in the United States Air Force and attained the rank of Airman First Class.

He was stationed in Okinawa, Japan in the mid-1960s when he volunteered to go to Vietnam, where he served more than a year in Cam Rahn Bay. He felt serving was an honor, and in his own words, “I love my country. I love my family.”

Mr. Maresco is the Commander of Medford's American Legion John R. Cacioppo Post 1848, Sergeant at Arms at VFW Post 2937, and is a Trustee of the Medford Chamber of Commerce.

Christopher R. Perkins

Christopher R. Perkins served in the United States Marine Corps for nine years, achieving the rank of Captain.

An Iraq War veteran, Mr. Perkins is an accomplished global leader in finance, a Marine Corps combat veteran, and a national figure for the advancement of military veterans and their families.

Robert Jorolemon

Robert Jorolemon served in the United States Marine Corps and achieved the rank of Corporal.

Mr. Jorolemon served from 1968 to 1970, completing training as a Combat Engineer at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. He deployed for 13 months to Vietnam, assigned to the First Marine Division, where he was part of a route clearance and security team responsible for a section of Highway 1 around Da Nang. His team cleared mines and improvised explosive devices with demolitions, working to keep the key route open.

Edmund J. Smyth

Edmund J. Smyth is a man of discipline and strong work ethic, which he attributes to his tenure in the United States Marine Corps, where he rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant. Since those days, he has continued to serve and contribute to the improvement and well-being of the Town of Huntington, its hamlets, and communities.

Jay Caputo

Jay Caputo served in the United States Naval Air Reserve and achieved the rank of Captain.

A native of Brooklyn, he enlisted in the Reserve at NAS New York (Floyd Bennett Field) in June 1970 as an Airman recruit. Following recruit training, he was assigned to Air Traffic Controller “A” School, where he graduated second in his class. He returned to NAS New York, where he was assigned to multiple different reserve units and advanced to Air Traffic Controller Second Class. He continued to serve in an enlisted status for 12 years.
