LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Father Louis DeGaetano upon the occasion
of being inducted into the Bishop Kearney High School Hall of Fame

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly acknowledge individuals of remarkable integrity and character
who have inspired and brought pride to our majestic Empire State with
their strong contributions to the community and model citizenship; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Father Louis DeGaetano upon the occasion of being inducted into the
Bishop Kearney High School Hall of Fame to be celebrated at its Hall of
Fame Dinner Dance on Friday, March 6, 2009; and
WHEREAS, Born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1952, Father Louis DeGaetano
graduated from Cathedral College in 1974; he entered the Seminary of the
Immaculate Conception in Huntington, New York, received a Masters of
Divinity in 1979, and was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Brooklyn
that same year; and
WHEREAS, After his ordination, Father Louis DeGaetano was assigned to
St. Mary of the Sea in Brooklyn; in 1987, he was transferred to Our
Lady of Angels in Bay Ridge; and
WHEREAS, In 1997, Father Louis DeGaetano was appointed as Parochial
Vicar to St. Francis de Sales parish, where he served the people of
Belle Harbor for 11 years; currently, he is assigned to St. Kevin's
parish in Auburndale, New York; and
WHEREAS, Bishop Mugavero assigned Father Louis DeGaetano to Bishop
Kearney High School, in 1984; throughout the years, he has instructed
students in preparation for the sacraments of Baptism and Confirmation,
and has been a vibrant member of the Kearney community; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Father Louis DeGaetano upon the occasion of being inducted into
the Bishop Kearney High School Hall of Fame; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Father Louis DeGaetano.
