LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Tom Buxton upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition by District 20 of the United Feder-
ation of Teachers at its Scholarship Dinner Dance on January 29, 2009

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those illustrious individuals of distinguished purpose whose
lives have been committed to the pursuit of excellence in the education
of the youth of the Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and fully in accord with its long-
standing traditions, it is the intent of this Legislative Body to
commend Tom Buxton upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by UFT District 20 in appreciation of his many years of
service to the District 20 school community; and
WHEREAS, Devoted husband, father, and grandfather and dedicated teach-
er, Tom Buxton, of IS 259, will be honored at District 20's Scholarship
Dinner Dance, to be held at El Caribe Country Club in Brooklyn on Janu-
ary 29, 2009; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is always proud to commend the efforts
of those such as Tom Buxton who work to support New York State's proud
tradition of excellence in education; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to its attention
it is appropriate to publicly proclaim and commend them for the edifica-
tion and emulation of others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Tom Buxton upon the occasion of his designation for special recog-
nition by District 20 of the United Federation of Teachers at its Schol-
arship Dinner Dance on January 29, 2009; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Tom Buxton.
