LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Sheila Fishbane upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by District 20 of the United Feder-
ation of Teachers at its Scholarship Dinner Dance on January 29, 2009

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those illustrious individuals of distinguished purpose whose
lives have been committed to the pursuit of excellence in the education
of the youth of the Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and fully in accord with its long-
standing traditions, it is the intent of this Legislative Body to
commend Sheila Fishbane upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by UFT District 20 in appreciation of her many years of
service to the District 20 school community; and
WHEREAS, Sheila Fishbane, of PS 200, will be honored at District 20's
Scholarship Dinner Dance, to be held at El Caribe Country Club in Brook-
lyn on January 29, 2009; and
WHEREAS, The longtime ESL Coordinator at PS 200, Sheila Fishbane
continues to welcome and enjoy the daily challenge of helping her
students excel as they strive to master the English language; and
WHEREAS, Sheila Fishbane has served as UFT Chapter Leader at PS 200
for 20 years and previously served as a Delegate and Chapter Leader at
PS 44; and
WHEREAS, When not developing new strategies to help her students or
working with the UFT to assist her colleagues, Sheila Fishbane enjoys
traveling with her husband Myron, dancing, and reading, particularly the
poetry of her son Craig, a widely published author as well as an accom-
plished educator; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to its attention
it is appropriate to publicly proclaim and commend them for the edifica-
tion and emulation of others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Sheila Fishbane upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by District 20 of the United Federation of Teachers at its
Scholarship Dinner Dance on January 29, 2009; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Sheila Fishbane.
