LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 40th Anniversary of the Putnam
County Office for the Aging

WHEREAS, Senior citizens are the ones who made our communities grow and
prosper; their past contributions and future participation are a vital
part of, and valuable asset to, the fabric of community life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations that would devote themselves to the welfare of the commu-
nity and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 40th Anniversary of the Putnam County Office for the Aging on
Wednesday, May 20, 2009, in Carmel, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Putnam County Office for the Aging is for all residents
age 60 and older; sponsored by Putnam County, the New York State Office
for the Aging and the Older Americans Act, the Office is a major plan-
ner, coordinator and direct service provider for all senior citizens
living in Putnam County; and
WHEREAS, There are numerous programs offered by the Putnam County
Office for the Aging, including: the Photo ID Program; Expanded In-Home
Services for the Elderly Program (EISEP); Elderly Pharmaceutical Insur-
ance Coverage (EPIC); Health Insurance, Information, Counseling, Assist-
ance Program (HIICAP); Medical Insurance Program; Home Energy Assistance
Program (HEAP); Weatherization, Referral and Packaging (WRAP); and Legal
Services, to name a few; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned our
recognition and applause; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the Putnam County Office for the
Aging; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Putnam County Office for the Aging.
