LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Bill Demong upon the occasion of
capturing a Gold Medal at the 2009 Nordic Skiing World Championships

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
those exemplary athletes who distinguish themselves through outstanding
achievements in worldwide athletic competition and represent the great
Empire State with pride and determination; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Bill Demong upon the occasion of capturing a Gold Medal at the 2009
Nordic Skiing World Championships; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Vermontville, New York, Bill Demong erased a
52-second deficit and pulled away from the competition near the end of
the Nordic Combined Large Hill event to finish in 23 minutes, 36.6
seconds to win his first world title; and
WHEREAS, Loyally and enthusiastically supported by family, fans,
friends and the community at large, Bill Demong has proven himself to be
an unbeatable combination of athletic talents and stands as a sterling
example and inspiration to all who would aspire to success; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
outstanding athletes within the State of New York who distinguish them-
selves through their exceptional performance, attaining unprecedented
success and the highest level of personal achievement; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Bill Demong upon the occasion of capturing a Gold Medal at
the 2009 Nordic Skiing World Championships, and to wish him continued
success in all of his future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Bill Demong.
