LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring the Cranberry Lake Boat Club upon the
occasion of its 100th Anniversary

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly acknowledge organizations of remarkable integrity and character
whose endeavors have enhanced the complexion of the majestic Empire
State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor the
Cranberry Lake Boat Club upon the occasion of its 100th Anniversary; and
WHEREAS, The Cranberry Lake Motor Boat Club began in 1909 to promote
power boating, improve boating conditions and encourage solicitation
among summer visitors and residents; the fledgling organization held its
first meeting in a grove of trees at the head of the lake; and
WHEREAS, In 1937, the original aims of the Cranberry Lake Motor Boat
Club were expanded to protect life and property, promote wholesome
sport, improve fishing, do all in its power to stabilize the water level
of the lake and most importantly, promote a healthy community spirit;
and
WHEREAS, The Cranberry Lake Boat Club was formally incorporated in
1956, and has become incredibly active in the region since that time; it
provides volunteers for the Fire and Rescue Squad, maintains the town
beach and a shelter that it built and plants flowers to enhance the
community; and
WHEREAS, In addition, navigation safety, water quality, fishing condi-
tions, camp security and docking facilities remain on the annual agenda
of the Cranberry Lake Boat Club and community interests are considered
whenever projects are undertaken; and
WHEREAS, Even though a majority of the members of the Cranberry Lake
Boat Club remain seasonal, a conscious effort is made to include the
year-round residents as directors and officers of the organization; over
the years, faculty and staff of the Ranger School, the College of Fores-
try at Syracuse University and SUNY ESF have served in this capacity;
and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body commends
the Cranberry Lake Boat Club for its excellence and for its commitment
and contributions to the community it has so ably served for the past
100 years; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor the Cranberry Lake Boat Club upon the occasion of its 100th Anni-
versary; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Cranberry Lake Boat Club.
