LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring John Marra upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the Father F. Peter Malet Award by the Rock-
land County Youth Bureau

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to call attention to
the dedicated efforts of those individuals from across the State of New
York who volunteer their time and energies in service to the community;
and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor John
Marra upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the Father F.
Peter Malet Award by the Rockland County Youth Bureau to be celebrated
at its 29th Annual Youth Forum and Awards Night on Thursday, May 14,
2009, at Terrace on the Hudson, Haverstraw, New York; and
WHEREAS, John Marra is receiving the distinguished Father F. Peter
Malet Award for his outstanding volunteer work in Rockland County; and
WHEREAS, Volunteerism promotes family and community solidarity; most
importantly, people who volunteer their time in civic and charitable
endeavors inspire others to the call of volunteerism; and
WHEREAS, John Marra is one such volunteer; he has been called upon to
contribute his time and talents and has always given of himself unstint-
ingly; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, John Marra has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which John Marra has displayed throughout
his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor John Marra upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the Father F. Peter Malet Award by the Rockland County Youth Bureau; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to John Marra.
