LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 24th Anniversary of the Society
for Haitian Research, Inc. & Perspectives Haitiennes

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body, in keeping with its
time-honored traditions, to recognize and pay tribute to those organiza-
tions which foster ethnic pride and enhance the profile of cultural
diversity which strengthens the fabric of the communities of New York
State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 24th Anniversary of the Society for Haitian Research, Inc. &
Perspectives Haitiennes; and
WHEREAS, The Society for Haitian Research, Inc. & Perspectives Haiti-
ennes is celebrating its 24th Anniversary at its 13th Annual Banquet on
Saturday, February 14, 2009, in Queens, New York; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to community service, the Society for Haitian
Research, Inc. & Perspectives Haitiennes of Brooklyn, New York, has a
weekly radio show "Perspectives Haitiennes", a regional program dedi-
cated to education and information; and
WHEREAS, A true asset to its community, the Society for Haitian
Research, Inc. & Perspectives Haitiennes' distinguished record merits
the recognition and respectful tribute of this Legislative Body; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 24th Anniversary of the Society for Haitian Research,
Inc. & Perspectives Haitiennes; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Society for Haitian Research, Inc. & Perspectives Haiti-
ennes.
