LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Douglas Mills upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition by the Kiwanis Club of Merrick

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
those individuals and organizations that devote their energy, resources
and thoughtful care to improving the quality and character of life in
their communities; and
WHEREAS, Douglas Mills has given not only of his time and energies but
also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Douglas Mills upon the occasion of his designation for special recogni-
tion by the Kiwanis Club of Merrick, to be celebrated on Saturday, May
30, 2009, at the Hempstead Country Club; and
WHEREAS, On this special occasion, Douglas Mills is being recognized
as a 25-year member of the Kiwanis Club of Merrick; he joined the Club
in June of 1984; his dedication and years of service are to be
commended; and
WHEREAS, Kiwanians are volunteers changing the world through service
to children and communities; Kiwanis members help shelter the homeless,
feed the hungry, mentor the disadvantaged, and care for the sick; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Douglas Mills has displayed through-
out his life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Douglas Mills upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by the Kiwanis Club of Merrick; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Douglas Mills.
