LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring David G. McDonough upon the occasion of
his designation for special recognition by the Kiwanis Club of Merrick

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
those individuals and organizations that devote their energy, resources
and thoughtful care to improving the quality and character of life in
their communities; and
WHEREAS, David G. McDonough has given not only of his time and ener-
gies but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and conse-
quently has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
David G. McDonough upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by the Kiwanis Club of Merrick, to be celebrated on Satur-
day, May 30, 2009, at the Hempstead Country Club; and
WHEREAS, Kiwanians are volunteers changing the world through service
to children and communities; Kiwanis members help shelter the homeless,
feed the hungry, mentor the disadvantaged, and care for the sick; and
WHEREAS, David McDonough has been a member of the Kiwanis Club of
Merrick for almost 25 years, and has served as its Distinguished Presi-
dent in 1989-1990, and also served as the Divisional Educational Chair-
man as well as Chairman of the New York District Kiwanis Club Officer
Training Program; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which David McDonough has displayed
throughout his life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor David G. McDonough upon the occasion of his designation for
special recognition by the Kiwanis Club of Merrick; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to David G. McDonough.
