LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring James Savalli upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition by the Townwide Fund of Huntington,
Inc.

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
James Savalli upon the occasion of his designation for special recogni-
tion by the Townwide Fund of Huntington, Inc. on Thursday, May 21, 2009,
at the Huntington Crescent Club; and
WHEREAS, The Townwide Fund of Huntington, Inc. was founded in 1961 by
a group of private citizens who wanted to help local charities raise
funds; the organization's essential mission was to keep Huntington's
resources within the community; and
WHEREAS, A Huntington resident for over 15 years, James Savalli grew
up on Long Island and graduated from Hauppauge High School and imme-
diately enlisted in the United States Navy where he studied to become an
electronic warfare specialist; and
WHEREAS, James Savalli spent many years working in Huntington Village
for some of the local shopper's guide magazines, NORTH SHORE TODAY and
ENTERTAINMENT THIS WEEK; he later decided to go out on his own to begin
his own magazine, particularly for the Huntington small business owner;
and
WHEREAS, James Savalli's newspaper, THE VILLAGE CONNECTION, is now
celebrating its eighth anniversary; through the magazine he has donated
countless pages of advertisements and promotions for local charities and
arts organizations; and
WHEREAS, Many of the organizations that Jim Savalli has assisted
include: the Huntington Breast Cancer Action Coalition, the Huntington
Historical Society, the Junior Welfare League, Splashes of Hope, the
Huntington Lighthouse Preservation Society, IMAC Theater, the Huntington
Arts Council, Cinema Arts Centre, and the Townwide Fund of Huntington,
Inc.; and
WHEREAS, A board member of the Huntington Historical Society, James
Savalli is an honorary member of the Junior Welfare League, and a member
of the Huntington Hibernians and the Townwide Fund of Huntington, Inc.;
and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his children, Nicole and Micha-
el, both of whom feel privileged to be a part of his life and rejoice in
his achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned our
recognition and applause; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor James Savalli upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by the Townwide Fund of Huntington, Inc.; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to James Savalli.
