LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Eric Stranski upon the occasion of
his selection as the WARWICK VALLEY DISPATCH Student-Athlete of the Week

WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can be achieved
only through strenuous practice and team spirit, nurtured by dedicated
coaching and strategic planning; and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical develop-
ment of the young people of this State, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, imparting a desire for success and developing a sense of
fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those young people within the State of New York who have
inspired and brought pride to their school and community by achieving
outstanding success in athletic competition; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Eric Stranski upon the occasion of his selection as the WARWICK
VALLEY DISPATCH Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending April
15, 2009; and
WHEREAS, A senior baseball standout at Warwick Valley High School,
Eric Stranski has been an important part of the Wildcats' 2-1 start; the
starting right fielder and a consistent .300 hitter, he helped the team
to victories over Monroe Woodbury and Burke Catholic; and
WHEREAS, Eric Stranski has a 91 average and served as a captain of the
football team, where he played linebacker; he also serves as a student
senator and is a member of the Drama Club and was the lead in the fall
production of "Singing in the Rain"; and
WHEREAS, A young man of singular distinction and superlative ability,
Eric Stranski has established a high standard of academic excellence and
purposefulness of life rarely achieved in youthful years; and
WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose, Eric
Stranski now stands honorably, with just pride in his accomplishments
and in eager anticipation of future challenges, understanding and appre-
ciating the caring counsel and support provided by his teachers, coaches
and parents; and
WHEREAS, With Eric Stranski throughout have been his parents, Kate and
Dan Lennon, brothers, Matt and Ryan, and sister, Sarah, all of whom feel
privileged to be a part of his life and rejoice in his many achieve-
ments; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when young
people of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Eric Stranski upon the occasion of his selection as the
WARWICK VALLEY DISPATCH Student-Athlete of the Week and to extend to him
its best wishes for a future of purposeful success and well-being, fully
confident of his response to a promising future and appreciative of the
model he represents for all aspiring young people of the Empire State;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Eric Stranski.
