LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Patrick Kemp upon the occasion of
his selection as the WARWICK VALLEY DISPATCH Student-Athlete of the Week

WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can be achieved
only through strenuous practice and team spirit, nurtured by dedicated
coaching and strategic planning; and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical develop-
ment of the young people of this State, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, imparting a desire for success and developing a sense of
fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those young people within the State of New York who have
inspired and brought pride to their school and community by achieving
outstanding success in athletic competition; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Patrick Kemp upon the occasion of his selection as the WARWICK
VALLEY DISPATCH Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 8,
2009; and
WHEREAS, A senior two-sport athlete, Patrick Kemp has been an
outstanding contributor to the Football and Track teams during his four
years at Warwick Valley High School; and
WHEREAS, The captain of the football team, Patrick Kemp has received
the Superintendent's Scholar-Athlete Award and Most Dedicated Player
recognition for the 2008 football season; and
WHEREAS, The President of the Future Business Leaders of America,
Patrick Kemp is a member of the National Honor Society and the Math
Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta; he carries a 94 grade point average and
ranks in the top 20 percent of his class; and
WHEREAS, A young man of singular distinction and superlative ability,
Patrick Kemp has established a high standard of academic excellence and
purposefulness of life rarely achieved in youthful years; and
WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose,
Patrick Kemp now stands honorably, with just pride in his accomplish-
ments and in eager anticipation of future challenges, understanding and
appreciating the caring counsel and support provided by his teachers,
coaches and parents; and
WHEREAS, With Patrick Kemp throughout have been his parents, David and
Patricia Kemp, and brother, Sean, all of whom feel privileged to be a
part of his life and rejoice in his many achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when young
people of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Patrick Kemp upon the occasion of his selection as the
WARWICK VALLEY DISPATCH Student-Athlete of the Week and to extend to him
its best wishes for a future of purposeful success and well-being, fully
confident of his response to a promising future and appreciative of the
model he represents for all aspiring young people of the Empire State;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Patrick Kemp.
