LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Dr. Allen L. Finkelstein upon the occa-
sion of his designation for special recognition by the Brownsville
Community Development Corporation

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Allen L. Finkelstein has given not only of his time and
energies but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and
consequently has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Dr. Allen L.
Finkelstein upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition
by the Brownsville Community Development Corporation on Tuesday, May 19,
2009, at the Brooklyn Museum of Art; and
WHEREAS, A Brooklyn native, Dr. Allen Finkelstein is the Chief Dental
Officer of AmeriChoice/United Health Group; he is a general dentist
currently practicing in Great Neck, and is a graduate with honors from
the Temple University School of Dentistry; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Finkelstein is a member of the American Dental Associ-
ation, the New York and Essex County Dental Societies, and the Dental
Associations of New Jersey and Rhode Island; he also serves on the New
Jersey Dental Medicaid Advisory Committee, the New York, New Jersey and
Rhode Island Coalitions of Oral Health, the American Friends of the
Hebrew University New York Board, the Advisory Board of Shils Entrepre-
neurial Education Fund and New York Academy of Sciences; and
WHEREAS, During the 9/11 disaster identification process, Dr. Finkel-
stein served on the Forensic Staff at the New York City Medical Examin-
ers Office; he is a long-time proponent of Integrated Dental and Medical
Care and has lectured at numerous insurance conferences, dental schools
and universities; he is also an adjunct faculty member of the Arizona
School of Dentistry and Oral Health; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Finkelstein has been particularly active in the area of
diversity and has been a strong supporter of outreach programs for
disadvantaged communities; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Dr. Allen L. Finkelstein upon the occasion of his designation for
special recognition by the Brownsville Community Development Corpo-
ration; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dr. Allen L. Finkelstein.
