LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Dr. Timothy Connors upon the occasion
receiving the Champion of Child Care Award from the Child Care Council
of Westchester, Inc. on June 5, 2009

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly acknowledge individuals of remarkable integrity and character
who have inspired and brought pride to our majestic Empire State with
their strong contributions to the community and model citizenship; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Dr.
Timothy Connors upon the occasion of receiving the Champion of Child
Care Award from the Child Care Council of Westchester, Inc. at its
Awards Luncheon to be held on Friday, June 5, 2009, at The Woman's Club,
White Plains, New York; and
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, A man of singular distinction, Dr. Timothy Connors has given
not only of his time and energies but also of his competence, intelli-
gence and leadership and consequently has been designated for this
special honor; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Timothy Connors began his career in education at Enfield
High School in Enfield, Connecticut; since then, he has amassed an
impressive list of accomplishments throughout his professional career in
Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Georgia, Oklahoma, Minnesota
and New York; and
WHEREAS, Today, Dr. Timothy Connors serves as the Superintendent of
Schools for the White Plains City School District, where he has been
called upon to contribute his time and talents to countless endeavors on
behalf of his students and has always given of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, As Superintendent of the While Plains City School District,
Dr. Timothy Connors has been instrumental in the implementation of a
full-day Kindergarten program, changes to the curriculum, upgrades to
the facilities, and most important, a shift in focus so that all members
of the community work together for the benefit of our future, today's
children; and
WHEREAS, His dedication and commitment, not only to schools and their
students, parents and staff, but to the communities as well, can be seen
in Dr. Timothy Connors' many affiliations and awards; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Timothy Connors was a member of the Northeast Superinten-
dents' Leadership Council Advisory Board; he is currently a member of
the American Association of School Administrators and was voted Super-
intendent of the Year in 1990; he is also a past member of the YMCA
Board of Western Connecticut and the Connecticut Association of Urban
Superintendents; and
WHEREAS, Since moving to White Plains, New York, in 2002, Dr. Timothy
Connors has been extremely active with the YWCA, the YMCA and the White
Plains Youth Bureau; he currently serves on the board at the White
Plains Public Library; and
WHEREAS, Educators like Dr. Timothy Connors provide a tremendous
service to the future of our State and Nation, inspiring generations of
young people in their educational journeys and ensuring their success in
their future years; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Timothy Connors has clearly had an enduring impact on the
youth of Westchester County, as well as on the community-at-large, and
accordingly merits recognition and applause for his impressive dedi-
cation to others; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Dr. Timothy Connors upon the occasion receiving the Champion of
Child Care Award from the Child Care Council of Westchester, Inc. on
June 5, 2009; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dr. Timothy Connors.
