LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Megan Connolly upon the occasion
of her selection as the WARWICK VALLEY DISPATCH Student-Athlete of the
Week

WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can be achieved
only through strenuous practice and team spirit, nurtured by dedicated
coaching and strategic planning; and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical develop-
ment of the young people of this State, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, imparting a desire for success and developing a sense of
fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those young people within the State of New York who have
inspired and brought pride to their school and community by achieving
outstanding success in athletic competition; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Megan Connolly upon the occasion of her selection as the WARWICK
VALLEY DISPATCH Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending April
29, 2009; and
WHEREAS, A senior three-sport standout at Warwick Valley High School,
Megan Connolly has been an important part of the success of the
Lacrosse, Indoor Track and Cross Country Teams; and
WHEREAS, Megan Connolly currently leads the Lacrosse Team with 13
goals in the team's first four games, including six against Middletown
and three against Valley Central; and
WHEREAS, A member of the National Honor Society and the Mu Alpha Theta
Math Honor Society, where she also serves as Treasurer, Megan Connolly
carries a 95 grade point average while maintaining a challenging course
load which includes AP Environmental Science and AP English; and
WHEREAS, A young woman of singular distinction and superlative abili-
ty, Megan Connolly has established a high standard of academic excel-
lence and purposefulness of life rarely achieved in youthful years; and
WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose, Megan
Connolly now stands honorably, with just pride in her accomplishments
and in eager anticipation of future challenges, understanding and appre-
ciating the caring counsel and support provided by her teachers, coaches
and parents; and
WHEREAS, With Megan Connolly throughout have been her parents, John
and Dianne Connolly, and three brothers, Kevin, Shane and Brian, all of
whom feel privileged to be a part of her life and rejoice in her many
achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when young
people of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Megan Connolly upon the occasion of her selection as the
WARWICK VALLEY DISPATCH Student-Athlete of the Week and to extend to her
its best wishes for a future of purposeful success and well-being, fully
confident of her response to a promising future and appreciative of the
model she represents for all aspiring young people of the Empire State;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Megan Connolly.
