LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 20th Anniversary of the Asian
American Bar Association of New York, to be celebrated on February 12,
2009

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those enduring organizations which faithfully devote their
resources and purposeful energies to improving the quality and dignity
of life in the communities they serve, and to preserving their cultural
heritage; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 20th Anniversary of the Asian American Bar Association of New
York, to be observed at its Lunar New Year Awards Celebration on Thurs-
day, February 12, 2009, at the Marriott Marquis, New York, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Asian American Bar Association of New York (AABANY) is a
professional membership organization of attorneys, which represents
4,000 attorneys in New York State, that are concerned with issues
affecting the Asian Pacific American community; and
WHEREAS, Incorporated in 1989, AABANY seeks not only to encourage the
professional growth of its members but also to advocate for the Asian
Pacific American community as a whole; and
WHEREAS, The New York regional affiliate of the National Asian Pacific
American Bar Association (NAPABA), AABANY is under the luminous direc-
tion of its President, Mr. James P. Chou; and
WHEREAS, The unique beauty of Asian culture and the contribution of
its people are well-known and well-appreciated around the world; the
contributions of Asian Americans are especially bountiful throughout the
Empire State and are distinguished by their excellence; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend and applaud The Asian American Bar Association of New York upon
the occasion of celebrating its 20th Anniversary, and to wish the entire
organization continued success in all its future endeavors; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Mr. James P. Chou, President, The Asian American Bar Associ-
ation of New York.
