LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Jillian Rau and John Bryant of Valley
Central High School in Montgomery, New York, upon the occasion of their
recognition by the TIMES HERALD-RECORD as 2009 Scholar Athletes

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its young
citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and accomplishments
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Jillian Rau
and John Bryant upon the occasion of their recognition by the TIMES
HERALD-RECORD as 2009 Scholar Athletes for their accomplishments in the
current school year; and
WHEREAS, Academically and athletically, Jillian Rau and John Bryant
have distinguished themselves as students of superlative ability,
talent, and maturity, establishing standards of excellence and achieve-
ment, purposefulness of life, and responsibility rarely achieved in
youthful years; and
WHEREAS, Jillian Rau earned an outstanding grade point average in high
school, and has also participated in volleyball and basketball; she is
also a member of the National Honor Society; and
WHEREAS, John Bryant earned an outstanding grade point average in high
school, and participated in soccer and lacrosse; he is also a member of
the National Honor Society; and
WHEREAS, Outstanding role models for their classmates, Jillian Rau and
John Bryant have brought honor to their families, school, and community;
and
WHEREAS, Jillian Rau and John Bryant may stand with pride in their
achievements, experiencing the satisfaction of their labors and the joy
of their accomplishments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences
as they continue their education; and
WHEREAS, Jillian Rau and John Bryant represent the potential inherent
in our most precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is
pleased to honor these students, recognizing their achievements and the
promise of their future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Jillian Rau and John Bryant upon the occasion of their recognition
by the TIMES HERALD-RECORD as 2009 Scholar Athletes and to wish them
well in their future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Jillian Rau and John Bryant.
