LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Jennifer Oskam and Youngwoo Park of
Chapel Field High School in Pine Bush, New York, upon the occasion of
their recognition by the TIMES HERALD-RECORD as 2009 Scholar Athletes

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its young
citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and accomplishments
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Jennifer Oskam
and Youngwoo Park upon the occasion of their recognition by the TIMES
HERALD-RECORD as 2009 Scholar Athletes for their accomplishments in the
current school year; and
WHEREAS, Academically and athletically, Jennifer Oskam and Youngwoo
Park have distinguished themselves as students of superlative ability,
talent, and maturity, establishing standards of excellence and achieve-
ment, purposefulness of life, and responsibility rarely achieved in
youthful years; and
WHEREAS, Jennifer Oskam earned an outstanding grade point average in
high school, and has also participated in basketball; she is also a
member of the National Honor Society; and
WHEREAS, Youngwoo Park earned an outstanding grade point average in
high school, and participated in soccer and track; he is also a member
of the National Honor Society; and
WHEREAS, Outstanding role models for their classmates, Jennifer Oskam
and Youngwoo Park have brought honor to their families, school, and
community; and
WHEREAS, Jennifer Oskam and Youngwoo Park may stand with pride in
their achievements, experiencing the satisfaction of their labors and
the joy of their accomplishments, eager to face the challenge of new
experiences as they continue their education; and
WHEREAS, Jennifer Oskam and Youngwoo Park represent the potential
inherent in our most precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body
is pleased to honor these students, recognizing their achievements and
the promise of their future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Jennifer Oskam and Youngwoo Park upon the occasion of their recog-
nition by the TIMES HERALD-RECORD as 2009 Scholar Athletes and to wish
them well in their future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Jennifer Oskam and Youngwoo Park.
