LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Walden Galleria upon the occasion
of receiving a Special Presentation Award from the Cheektowaga Chamber
of Commerce

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor those illus-
trious individuals and institutions of the State of New York whose
purposeful endeavors serve to enhance the quality of life in their
communities; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, it is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend
the Walden Galleria upon the occasion of receiving a Special Presenta-
tion Award from the Cheektowaga Chamber of Commerce; and
WHEREAS, The Walden Galleria will be honored at the Cheektowaga Cham-
ber of Commerce's 43rd Annual Awards Dinner, to be held on June 9, 2009;
and
WHEREAS, On May 1, 1989, the ribbon was cut and the Walden Galleria,
the premier shopping center in the Buffalo-Niagara Falls region, opened
its doors for the very first time; and
WHEREAS, The largest shopping center in the region, the Walden Galle-
ria comprises more than 1,600,000 square feet of retail space and is
home to more than 200 stores and restaurants; and
WHEREAS, Since opening in 1989 with five anchor stores, the Walden
Galleria has added additional anchor stores, a parking deck and an
impressive selection of retail stores, services and restaurants that are
unique to the Buffalo-Niagara Falls region; and
WHEREAS, In addition, the Walden Galleria provides support to numerous
community organizations in the region and its management team partic-
ipates on various boards and committees throughout Western New York; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals and businesses of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought
to our attention, it is appropriate to publicly proclaim and commend
those individuals for the edification and emulation of others; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Walden Galleria upon the occasion of receiving a Special
Presentation Award from the Cheektowaga Chamber of Commerce; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Walden Galleria.
