LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Ralph Spagnolo upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition by the Wantagh School District

WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of certain
extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their valued
contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the community
and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Ralph Spagnolo upon the occasion of his designation for special recogni-
tion by the Wantagh School District on Thursday, June 11, 2009; and
WHEREAS, A widower, Ralph Spagnolo has lived in the Wantagh District
for 56 years; he retired nine years ago after 40 years of service as a
plant maintenance supervisor for the Nassau County Department of Public
Works; for the past nine years he has served as Trustee for the Wantagh
School District Board of Education and is leaving his post; and
WHEREAS, Ralph Spagnolo earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Labor
Relations from the Cornell University School of Industrial Labor
Relations in Manhattan; he has served three terms on the school board;
and
WHEREAS, Ralph Spagnolo is the Executive Director of the Wantagh Foun-
dation for Educational Excellence, which operates the district's teen
center and other community programs; and
WHEREAS, With Ralph Spagnolo throughout have been his two children,
both of whom feel privileged to be a part of his life and rejoice in his
achievements; and
WHEREAS, Ralph Spagnolo's distinguished record merits the recognition
and respectful tribute of this Legislative Body; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Ralph Spagnolo upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by the Wantagh School District; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Ralph Spagnolo.
