LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Raymond Figueroa for his 20 years of
dedicated service to Turning Point Housing D.F.C. Discipleship Outreach
Ministries, Inc.

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Raymond
Figueroa for his 20 years of dedicated service to Turning Point Housing
D.F.C. Discipleship Outreach Ministries, Inc. on Monday, June 22, 2009,
in Brooklyn, New York; and
WHEREAS, Raymond Figueroa has been with Turning Point since 1989; he
began as an Assistant to the Executive Director, and has served as
Facility Manager, Housing Development Coordinator, Program Director,
Director of Operations, and Deputy Executive Director; and
WHEREAS, Raymond Figueroa has been responsible for the development of
permanent low-income housing opportunities, special needs housing (i.e.,
for people living with AIDS), and HIV/AIDS outreach and case management
services in Red Hook; he was appointed Executive Director in March 2002
and completed Pratt Institute's Community and Economic Development
Internship Program; and
WHEREAS, Selected a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Community Health
Leader, in 2005 Raymond Figueroa was honored by the National HIV/AIDS
Partnership at the United Nations with the Red Ribbon Leadership Award
for outstanding leadership; he is president of the board of directors of
Brooklyn Outreach Workers and a member of Sunset Park's Community Board
7; he is also president of SIBRO, the Staten Island/Brooklyn network of
six HIV/AIDS health care providers; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the life in their community and have shown a long and sustained
commitment to excellence certainly have earned recognition and applause;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Raymond Figueroa for his 20 years of dedicated service to Turning
Point Housing D.F.C. Discipleship Outreach Ministries, Inc.; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Raymond Figueroa.
