LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Icyline Jones upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by the Newkirk Area Neighborhood
Association

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those individuals and organizations which have shown a long-
standing commitment to improving the quality of life in their communi-
ties; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Icyline Jones upon the occasion of her designation for special recogni-
tion by the Newkirk Area Neighborhood Association; and
WHEREAS, Icyline Jones was recognized by the Newkirk Area Neighborhood
Association at her 90th Birthday celebration on Wednesday, April 1,
2009; and
WHEREAS, Icyline Jones was born in Jamaica, West Indies, and first
immigrated to England in 1955 and then on to America in 1972; she has
been a member of the Newkirk Area Neighborhood Association since 1995;
and
WHEREAS, Icyline Jones reaches out to those in need within her church
and community; she also contributes to the school supply project in
order to benefit the homeless children of Brooklyn, and she also designs
and makes beautiful household items on her sewing machine for friends
and family; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned our
recognition and applause; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body honor Icyline Jones upon the
occasion of her designation for special recognition by the Newkirk Area
Neighborhood Association; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Icyline Jones.
