LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Karen Wilson upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Making a Difference Award by the Ameri-
can Red Cross of Northeastern New York

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are assets beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Karen Wilson has given not only of her time and energies but
also of her competence, intelligence and leadership, and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Karen Wilson
upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the "Making a
Difference" award by the American Red Cross of Northeastern New York to
be celebrated at its Annual Meeting and Volunteer Recognition Dinner on
Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at the Italian-American Community Center,
Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Cobleskill, New York, Karen Wilson has been a
volunteer with the American Red Cross of Northeastern New York since
1998; she is a valued disaster action team (DAT) member in the chapter,
and this year alone, has responded to 12 incidents serving 38 clients,
and has assisted in various shelters in times of need; and
WHEREAS, Karen Wilson is a very dedicated person not only with the
American Red Cross but to the Schoharie community as a whole; she keeps
well-informed of all community groups so she is able to assist clients
day or night; moreover, she has volunteered for national assignments
such as Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans; and
WHEREAS, Karen Wilson has been called upon to contribute her time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Karen Wilson has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Karen Wilson has displayed through-
out her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Karen Wilson upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the "Making a Difference" award by the American Red Cross of Northeast-
ern New York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Karen Wilson, Cobleskill, New York.
