LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Jean Halpern of SUNY Orange upon the
occasion of receiving a 2009 Chancellor's Award for Teaching Excellence

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly acknowledge those individuals of remarkable integrity and char-
acter whose endeavors have substantially enhanced the quality of higher
education in the great State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Jean
Halpern of SUNY Orange upon the occasion of receiving a 2009
Chancellor's Award for Teaching Excellence; and
WHEREAS, Jean Halpern has continuously demonstrated an impressive
dedication, an unparalleled devotion and an unremitting enthusiasm for
the quality of the educational programs and opportunities offered at
SUNY Orange and consequently has been selected for a 2009 Chancellor's
Award, one of the highest SUNY faculty honors; and
WHEREAS, Jean Halpern is an extraordinary nursing professor at SUNY
Orange who was cited as one of the region's 50 leading nursing profes-
sionals by HUDSON VALLEY MAGAZINE in 2008; and
WHEREAS, Professors like Jean Halpern provide a tremendous service to
the future of our State and Nation, inspiring countless individuals in
their professional journeys and ensuring their success in their future
years; and
WHEREAS, The extraordinary career and accomplishments of Professor
Jean Halpern present a model of educational leadership and achievement
which merits the admiration and appreciation of the people of the State
of New York; now; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Jean Halpern of SUNY Orange upon the occasion of receiving a 2009
Chancellor's Award for Teaching Excellence; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Jean Halpern.
