LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Newport Lodge No. 455, Free and Accepted
Masons upon the occasion of its 150th Anniversary

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend those
illustrious organizations within the State of New York whose focus and
intent have made a substantial impact on the quality of life in their
communities; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Newport Lodge No. 455, Free and Accepted Masons upon the occasion of its
150th Anniversary, to be celebrated on June 28, 2009; and
WHEREAS, The festivities for the 150th anniversary celebration of
Newport Lodge No. 455, Free and Accepted Masons will be held in its
Newport Masonic Temple, which is 107 years old and was recently listed
on the New York State Register of Historic Places; and
WHEREAS, The formal program will begin with several short talks on the
history of Newport Lodge No. 455, Free and Accepted Masons and the role
played by its members in the development of the Kuyahoora Valley; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is proudly moved to honor and commend
the members of Newport Lodge No. 455, Free and Accepted Masons, past and
present, who have labored so conscientiously to secure and improve the
quality of life for the community it serves; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That thus Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Newport Lodge No. 455, Free and Accepted Masons upon the occasion
of its 150th Anniversary, fully confident that it will continue to enjoy
the sparkling success which has so characterized its past; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Newport Lodge No. 455, Free and Accepted Masons.
