LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Steven Ramos upon the occasion of his
designation as Performer of the Season in Wrestling by THE JOURNAL NEWS

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body takes pleasure in honoring talented high
school athletes who distinguish themselves and their community through
outstanding athletic performance; and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical develop-
ment of the young people of this State, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, imparting a desire for success and developing a sense of
fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, it is the intent of this Legislative Body to
commend Steven Ramos upon the occasion of his designation as Performer
of the Season in Wrestling by THE JOURNAL NEWS; and
WHEREAS, Clarkstown North senior Steven Ramos was named THE JOURNAL
NEWS Rockland wrestler of the year; the three-time Rockland County cham-
pion is the Rams' all-time leader in wins and pins; and
WHEREAS, Steven Ramos finished his high school career with a record of
169-40, including a 44-4 record this season; he had 110 career pins; and
WHEREAS, In the biggest and last match of his career at the New York
State tournament, Steven Ramos pinned his opponent in 2:25, earning him
third place in the state in his weight class; it was the highest
achievement by a Rockland County wrestler this season, and the highest
for a county wrestler in this tournament since 2007; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Steven Ramos finished in third-place at the
prestigious Eastern States wrestling tournament this year; and
WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can be achieved
only through strenuous practice; Steven Ramos' dedication to wrestling
is a year-round, everyday commitment; he is highly focused and has
developed a matchless work ethic; and
WHEREAS, Steven Ramos' outstanding athleticism is reflective of his
dedication, determination and personal commitment; his achievements
stand as a hallmark of what is best in the families, schools and commu-
nities across New York State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Steven Ramos upon the occasion of his designation as Performer
of the Season in Wrestling by THE JOURNAL NEWS, and to congratulate him
for the enduring honor he has brought to his family, his school and his
community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Steven Ramos.
