LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Jillian Hudson upon the occasion of
her designation as Performer of the Season in Gymnastics by THE JOURNAL
NEWS

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body takes pleasure in honoring talented high
school athletes who distinguish themselves and their community through
outstanding athletic performance; and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical develop-
ment of the young people of this State, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, imparting a desire for success and developing a sense of
fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, it is the intent of this Legislative Body to
commend Jillian Hudson upon the occasion of her designation as Performer
of the Season in Gymnastics by THE JOURNAL NEWS; and
WHEREAS, Tappan Zee junior, Jillian Hudson, was named by THE JOURNAL
NEWS as Rockland gymnast of the year; she is the New York State PHSAA
all-around and vault champion, a five-time Section 1 champion and a
four-time Division I champion; and
WHEREAS, Jillian Hudson scored her second perfect 10 in a high school
meet this year in the floor exercise during a tri-meet with Clarkstown
and R.C. Ketcham on January 30, 2009, almost a year to the day of her
previous perfect 10; and
WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can be achieved
only through strenuous practice; Jillian Hudson's dedication to gymnas-
tics is a year-round, everyday commitment; she is highly focused and has
developed a matchless work ethic; and
WHEREAS, Jillian Hudson's outstanding athleticism is reflective of her
dedication, determination and personal commitment; her achievements
stand as a hallmark of what is best in the families, schools and commu-
nities across New York State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Jillian Hudson upon the occasion of her designation as Performer
of the Season in Gymnastics by THE JOURNAL NEWS, and to congratulate her
for the enduring honor she has brought to her family, her school and her
community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Jillian Hudson.
