LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Alaina Walker upon the occasion of her
designation as Performer of the Season in Girls' Basketball by THE JOUR-
NAL NEWS

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body takes pleasure in honoring talented high
school athletes who distinguish themselves and their community through
outstanding athletic performance; and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical develop-
ment of the young people of this State, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, imparting a desire for success and developing a sense of
fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, it is the intent of this Legislative Body to
commend Alaina Walker upon the occasion of her designation as Performer
of the Season in Girls' Basketball by THE JOURNAL NEWS; and
WHEREAS, Senior Alaina Walker of Albertus Magnus High School is a
two-time JOURNAL NEWS Rockland Player of the Year; and
WHEREAS, Leading her team's run to the gold ball and a spot in the
Class A New York State final, Alaina Walker was instrumental in her
team's overcoming a 14 point deficit to defeat Lakeland in the Section 1
championship game; she scored 18 of her 23 points in the final 10
minutes of the contest; and
WHEREAS, Alaina Walker scored 31 points, 21 in the second half, in the
state final against Newark; and
WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can be achieved
only through strenuous practice; Alaina Walker's dedication to basket-
ball is a year-round, everyday commitment; she is highly focused and has
developed a matchless work ethic; and
WHEREAS, Alaina Walker's outstanding athleticism is reflective of her
dedication, determination and personal commitment; her achievements
stand as a hallmark of what is best in the families, schools and commu-
nities across New York State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Alaina Walker upon the occasion of her designation as Performer
of the Season in Girls' Basketball by THE JOURNAL NEWS, and to congratu-
late her for the enduring honor she has brought to her family, her
school and her community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Alaina Walker.
