LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Jaclyn LaCavalla upon the occasion of
her designation as Performer of the Season in Girls' Skiing by THE JOUR-
NAL NEWS

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body takes pleasure in honoring talented high
school athletes who distinguish themselves and their community through
outstanding athletic performance; and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical develop-
ment of the young people of this State, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, imparting a desire for success and developing a sense of
fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, it is the intent of this Legislative Body to
commend Jaclyn LaCavalla upon the occasion of her designation as
Performer of the Season in Girls' Skiing by THE JOURNAL NEWS; and
WHEREAS, For the second year in a row, Clarkstown North's Jaclyn LaCa-
valla was named by THE JOURNAL NEWS as Rockland Girls' Skier of the
Year; and
WHEREAS, Jaclyn LaCavalla was undefeated in regular season meets
during the past year; and
WHEREAS, Last year, Jaclyn LaCavalla won the Section 1 skimeister
(overall) and giant slalom events; in this year's New York State compe-
tition, she placed 17th out of 84 skiers in the giant slalom; and
WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can be achieved
only through strenuous practice; Jaclyn LaCavalla's dedication to skiing
is a year-round, everyday commitment; she is highly focused and has
developed a matchless work ethic; and
WHEREAS, Jaclyn LaCavalla's outstanding athleticism is reflective of
her dedication, determination and personal commitment; her achievements
stand as a hallmark of what is best in the families, schools and commu-
nities across New York State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Jaclyn LaCavalla upon the occasion of her designation as
Performer of the Season in Girls' Skiing by THE JOURNAL NEWS, and to
congratulate her for the enduring honor she has brought to her family,
her school and her community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Jaclyn LaCavalla.
