LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Simon Haysom upon the occasion of
receiving the 2009 President's Pro Bono Service Award from the New York
State Bar Association on May 1, 2009

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly acknowledge those exemplary individuals whose purposeful lives
and distinguished careers have been committed to bettering the quality
of life in this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Simon Haysom upon the occasion of receiving the 2009 President's Pro
Bono Service Award from the New York State Bar Association at a luncheon
held on Friday, May 1, 2009, Law Day, at the State Bar Center, Albany,
New York; and
WHEREAS, Simon Haysom received this most prestigious award in recogni-
tion of his work providing free legal services in bankruptcy cases; he
worked in conjunction with Legal Services of the Hudson Valley to devel-
op a series of Pro Se bankruptcy clinics where he personally served 20
clients; and
WHEREAS, A man of singular distinction, Simon Haysom has continually
demonstrated extreme competence, extraordinary intelligence, and dili-
gent leadership in his unwavering service to his community; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Simon Haysom has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Simon Haysom has displayed through-
out his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Simon Haysom upon the occasion of receiving the 2009 President's
Pro Bono Service Award from the New York State Bar Association on May 1,
2009; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Simon Haysom.
