legacy as the longest-tenured educator and coach at Tappan Zee; he is

span that included time as a math teacher, assistant principal, as well
as the basketball and golf coach; and
WHEREAS, Dan Dinan plans to fill his days playing two days a week at
Blue Hill Golf Course, where he serves on the advisory committee, and
with the Orangetown Park and Recreation committee; he is still a substi-

years in tournament-course set-up; and

took a job teaching math in the district and was the boys' basketball
coach; he was the varsity coach for six seasons in the 1960s, deploying
a stern and military style; and
WHEREAS, Dan Dinan carried on a golfing dynasty at Tappan Zee when he
took over in 1979, highlighted by a 64-match unbeaten streak spread over
three seasons in the early 1980s; although he refuses to take credit for
the program's continued success, he's been selected coach of the year
eight times; and
WHEREAS, Dan Dinan has clearly had an enduring impact on the youth at
Tappan Zee High School, as well as on the community-at-large, and
accordingly merits recognition and applause for his impressive dedi-
