LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the East 48th Street J and K Block
Association upon the occasion of hosting its 4th Annual Block Party

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare
of the community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
the East 48th Street J and K Block Association upon the occasion of
hosting its 4th Annual Block Party on Saturday, July 11, 2009, in Brook-
lyn, New York; and
WHEREAS, The East 48th Street J and K Block Association was formed in
August of 2004; the activities of the Block Association are regular and
varied; it focuses on supporting community development and encouraging
the environmental consciousness of its neighborhood; and
WHEREAS, The East 48th Street J and K Block Association continues to
be recognized as a leader in the community and its efforts have been
cited in many newspaper publications; it consists of concerned citizens
who are committed to a meaningful, healthy and safe quality of life for
its community and the future of its youth; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the East 48th Street J and K Block Association upon the occasion
of hosting its 4th Annual Block Party; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dunovan Dillon, President of the East 48th Street J and K
Block Association.
