LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Grand Bassa County Association in
the Americas upon the occasion of its designation for special recogni-
tion

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body, in keeping with its
time-honored traditions, to recognize and pay tribute to those organiza-
tions which foster ethnic pride and enhance the profile of cultural
diversity which strengthens the fabric of the communities of New York
State; and
WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
the Grand Bassa County Association in the Americas upon the occasion of
its designation for special recognition on Saturday, September 19, 2009;
and
WHEREAS, On this special day, the New York Branch of the Grand Bassa
County Association in the Americas will be hosting its "African Village
Clinic Project" program at the Flatbush Reformed Church in Brooklyn, New
York; and
WHEREAS, The primary mission of the Grand Bassa County Association is
to assist Liberians, especially those living in the remote villages and
towns of Grand Bassa County, whose lives have been devastated as a
result of a 14-year civil war; and
WHEREAS, A true asset to society, the Grand Bassa County Association
promotes support in the areas of health care, education, social
services, farming and small business assistance; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Grand Bassa County Association in the Americas upon the
occasion of its designation for special recognition; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dolores Barton, Event Coordinator, Grand Bassa County Associ-
ation in the Americas.
