LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Susan Gruen Helsinger upon the occasion
of her designation for special recognition by the Kiwanis Club of
Merrick on October 15, 2009

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Susan Gruen Helsinger has given not only of her time and
energies but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and
consequently has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor outgoing Pres-
ident Susan Gruen Helsinger upon the occasion of her designation for
special recognition by the Kiwanis Club of Merrick on Thursday, October
15, 2009, at the Hempstead Country Club; and
WHEREAS, As the outgoing President of the Kiwanis Club of Merrick,
Susan Helsinger has been called upon to contribute her time and talents
to countless endeavors on behalf of the club and has always given of
herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Under her esteemed leadership, the Kiwanis Club of Merrick
has held many fundraisers, including pancake breakfasts, holiday gift
wrapping and many other events; it has also helped out in the community
in a variety of ways, including sponsoring youth groups, highway clean-
ups, children groups and scholarships; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her service, a period of
constructive involvement, Susan Helsinger has stood constant in dignity,
good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Susan Helsinger has displayed
throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Susan Gruen Helsinger upon the occasion of her designation for
special recognition by the Kiwanis Club of Merrick; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Susan Helsinger.
